How to split a PDF

  1. Choose or drop your PDF. The tool shows how many pages it has.
  2. Pick a mode:
    • Extract pages – the pages you list go into one new PDF. Example: 1-3, 7.
    • Custom ranges – each range separated by a semicolon becomes its own PDF. Example: 1-4; 5-9; 10-end gives three files.
    • Every N pages – cuts the document into equal parts. N = 1 saves every page as a separate PDF.
  3. Click Split & download. One result downloads as a PDF; several results download together as a ZIP file.

Page number tips

  • end means the last page, so 5-end is page 5 to the end.
  • Pages are copied in the order you type them. 3, 1, 2 puts page 3 first, and 5-1 reverses pages 1 to 5.
  • Page numbers are the physical pages in the file (1, 2, 3…), not the numbers printed in the footer, which often start later because of a cover or table of contents.

What is kept in the new files

Pages are copied exactly: text stays selectable and searchable, and images keep their original quality, because nothing is converted or re-compressed. Web links on a page are kept. Bookmarks (the outline in the sidebar of your PDF reader) and form fields that span the whole document are not carried over.

Privacy

The splitting happens in your browser with the open-source pdf-lib library. Your PDF is not uploaded to a server, so it is safe to use with private documents. Very large files (hundreds of MB) may be slow on phones because everything runs on your device.
