How to Calculate Tip — The Formula

The tip formula is straightforward:

Tip Amount = Bill Amount × (Tip Percentage ÷ 100)

Total = Bill + Tip + Tax

Per Person = Total ÷ Number of People

For quick mental math: to calculate a 10% tip, simply move the decimal point one place to the left. For 20%, double the 10% amount. For 15%, add half of the 10% to itself.
